Ridgetown Campus Receives Federal Funding for Biodiesel Plant

The University of Guelph's Ridgetown Campus is receiving $938,260 from the federal government to develop a functional, farm-scale oilseed processing and biodiesel plant on campus, it was announced today.
The funding is being provided through Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food program, which is delivered in Ontario by the Agricultural Adaptation Council.
"This is an important component of the research strategy for bio-economy at the University of Guelph," said U of G president Alastair Summerlee. "It is particularly gratifying to have support from the federal government on this initiative."
The project will include a variety of educational and research initiatives aimed at helping develop biofuels technologies.
