Events have illustrated that both under-developed and developed countries can be overwhelmed by climatic events and that people living in Canada may be vulnerable to climate risks.

Through its commitment to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Canada regularly assesses the impacts of a changing climate, and identifies options for adapting to the changes.

Natural Resources Canada led a national assessment of climate change vulnerabilities entitled From Impacts to Adaptation: Canada in a Changing Climate 2007 which provides an overview of potential risks from a regional perspective.
